Lush is one of the most popular stores in the UK. It’s bright, beautiful, and smells amazing. Once you’re in the shop, you’re amazed and marveled at all the wonderful products.
If you’re not familiar with Lush, then let me give you a heads-up. Lush is a cosmetics company, which prides itself on using natural and ethically sourced ingredients. The products and company are highly successful, and there are stores all across the UK.
It’s no secret that Lush is on the pricer side. Their products are on the expensive side, with some affordable options.
If you’re looking to get more for your buck, then keep on reading. I’m going to give you some money-saving advice that’ll make your pennies go further, the next time you shop at Lush.
How To Save Money at Lush
Below, we’re going to list some great tips that can help you save your hard-earned dollar at Lush.
1. Grab a Free Face Mask
If you frequently shop at Lush and happen to buy their face masks, then you’re going to want to keep the containers.
Once you have five containers, you can bring these into the shop and exchange them. While you won’t be getting any money back, you’ll technically be saving money. They’ll give you a free face mask for your environmental efforts, and it’s a full-sized product. You can choose any of their natural face masks.
This also isn’t a one-off deal. If you save that container, and then another four, you’ve bagged yourself another face mask, and repeat. The only thing to mention is that you can only get one face mask per transaction, so if you’ve got a pile of containers, be sleek about it.
2. Cut Bath Bombs
Bath bombs are pretty expensive. You’ll be paying a good amount of dollars for one. If you have the money, and you want to use a whole bath bomb at once, then please do! If you’re on a budget, and you’re trying to stretch your money, I’ve got you.
Depending on the size of your bath bomb, you’re going to want to cut it in half. If it’s extra-large, you can cut it into quarters. That means you’ll get two-to-four baths out of one bath bomb.
In the long run, you’ll be saving big bucks.
3. Utilize Your Bubble Bars
When it comes to bubble bars, they’re far more economic, due to their large size. Lush generally advertises bubble bars as a product that you can use twice.
Nope, you use bubble bars much more than twice. You can chop bubble bars into four pieces, or if it’s an extra-large bubble bar, you can get six pieces out of it. That’s two-to-four extra baths out of your bubble bar.
You’re welcome.
4. Use A Strainer For Your Bubble Bar
This is a little hack for your bubble bar.
To make your bubble bar last longer, get a metal strainer and place your bar inside. Turn the tap on, and move the bubble bar about. It’ll make more bubbles than if you were to just crumble the bar under the tap.
Not only are you getting more bubbles, but you might find that you can use even less of the bubble bar.
5. Get A Free Sample
If you want to try before you buy, ask a Lush employee if you can get a free sample. They tend to be very generous, and will often grab you a sample if they can.
You’re technically just trying to see if you like the product, but if you’re the type of person who will avoid returns, you’ll save money by ensuring you use the product. Plus, you technically are getting items for free, even if they are incredibly mini. Honestly, if you’re broke and need a pamper night, you could probably ask for a free face mask sample, and ask if you can try a complimentary product.
You can’t get any samples on bath bombs or bubble bars. However, for most liquid products, you can get a sample.
6. Ask For a Refund
Yeah, this is pretty obvious, but a lot of people don’t realize you can get a refund at Lush. It makes sense why people might think that, given it’s a cosmetics company, but they will refund you if you don’t get along with the product.
You won’t get a refund for products you can try in-store. There’s likely a leeway if you’ve had a bad experience with the product, but generally speaking, if you can try it in the shop, you might not be in luck. In this case, they may not offer you a refund, but they might offer an exchange. Either way, it’s worth it, they have very good customer service, and it’s unlikely they will turn you away.
Also, you can only get a refund if you have a minimum of 75% of the product left. You can’t a tiny amount of the product left and ask for a refund, they’re not that generous.
7. Cut Your Shower Jelly
The shower jelly is probably one of the coolest items at Lush. It can be frustrating to use in practice, though.
If you don’t cut your shower jelly up, you’ll likely end up dropping the shower jelly. It’s incredibly slimy and slippery. The more you drop, the more pieces are wasted. If you cut your shower jelly up beforehand, less of the product will get wet, and it’ll retrain its shape better. Also, you’ll be utilizing the product, there’s less overage wastage.
8. Pay In Installments
If you’re on a tight budget, but you know you’ll definitely have money coming into your account soon, you could pay in installments. Only do this if you have guaranteed finical security because you don’t want to end up in debt.
Lush offers Afterpay, which basically allows you to get the product before you buy (all) of the product. You’ll be paying for ¼ of the product, and then pay the rest in three installments.
If you have hefty essentials, and you can’t afford a lump sum, it might be a great way to get the products you need without breaking the bank.
Summary
While you won’t be getting any discounts anytime soon, use your tricks and tips to make your money go further. Whether you get free samples, receive your free face mask, or pay installments, you’ll be saving the big bucks.
